1. You must be born again by God's Spirit as referred to in John 3.
2. You must have a pastoral reference. Be sure to include your pastor's contact information.
3. You must come with a submissive servant's heart and be willing to flow with the leadership and the camp program.
4. You must comply with PA state law regarding Clearances.
5. Fulfill the qualifications listed above and submit the application below.

What does it take to be HSC Counselor?

When we search for counselors each summer, we never pursue "babysitters."
We look for people who are actively pursuing Jesus & His Kingdom all throughout the year. We look for people whose chief pursuit is the truth of His Word, who seek to avoid the distraction & pollution of the world's message via its media. We do so because we know whatever a camp counselor has "taken into themselves" during the rest of the year, will certainly come out as they spend five full days with their young people.
We do not expect perfection from our staff; otherwise, none of us would qualify. Yet-it is our sincere hope that those who are applying to counsel children & teens for a week during the summer have themselves been pursuing the Lord, feeding upon His Word, & seeking to be filled continually with His Spirit. For the five days you are with your campers, you would be their shepherd, their protector, and their friend- 24/7. Greater love has no one than this that one lays down his life for his friends. If you counsel, that is what you'll be doing for The Lord & your campers all week.
You will be pouring in to others, but the rewards in this life & the next for doing so will be worth it.
We directors will do our best, should you apply, to discern if this is your year to counsel. His will and timing be done.

Hopewell Summer Camps take place at
Tel Hai Camp and Retreat
33 Lasso Drive
Honey Brook, PA 19344

All staff arrive Sunday by 2pm on the Camp week for orientation. Campers arrive Monday Morning. No campers are allowed Sunday night.

Camp runs 24/7 from Monday to Friday.

Camp officially ends at 7:00pm on Friday. Staff members depart for a post-camp gathering after the last campers are picked up.

If yes, the camp office will request a form filled out in addition to the health form regarding details and accommodations for your food allergies.

As a camp counselor, you will help run 2 skill classes, and have a break on the third. Any activities involving specialized equipment will be run by a Tel Hai staff member, you serve as a support to them. Please choose your top 6 prefferred activities.

1. PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance (DHS)

you will be sent an email when your clearances are ready. This form is CY113.
Print a copy and save a copy as a PDF. Volunteer clearances are free.

2. Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check (FBI) Link:

1KG6ZJ Click on “Schedule or manage an appointment.” Complete form, click
next, complete each screen as it appears, when at Documents page, select
Driver’s license or other legal identification to bring to the fingerprinting
appointment. Select a location and appointment time, or check walk-in.
Print the page to take with you. You will pay at the location. Cost is $22.60.

If you have lived in PA for more than 10 years, you can contact the office for an affidavit form to get signed and notarized. This can substitute for the fingerprinting and can often be done for free.

3. PA State Police report of criminal history (PSP)
https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp Click on “Submit a new record check”.
Complete the form. Submit the clearance. It will be emailed to you. (After
initially submitting your info, scroll down and look for the next or continue
button. You will receive a control number beginning with an “R”. Click on it
for your clearance.) Save as a PDF and print one for us. This form is
Pennsylvania Criminal Record Checks(SP4-164).

Submit all completed clearances to the office via email or mail at least 1 week before camp begins.
